Future Interests in Nature and the Sea (F.I.N.SEA) Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that unites the wonders of the ocean with experiential learning adventures to foster passion, curiosity, and confidence in the hearts and minds of at-risk youth. F.I.N.SEA enhances environmental awareness and appreciation, while educating and empowering students and teachers from underserved communities to become leaders and effect positive change in our natural world.

Future Interests in Nature and the Sea (F.I.N.SEA) Foundation was created as the joint vision of two close friends who met on the island of Dominica, West Indies, in 2001 at the Institute for Tropical Marine Ecology (ITME). During their time on the island, and in the years that followed, Amy Diamond and Jill Borger-Richardson discovered reflections of each other not only in their deep-felt love for the ocean, but in their unquenchable thirst for knowledge, an innate desire to educate and nurture children of all ages, and a passion for creativity, exploration, and adventure. Through mutual inventiveness and perseverance, Jill and Amy established F.I.N.SEA Foundation to enlighten youth through experiential learning adventures, utilizing the ocean and coastal ecosystems as their arena for inspiration. By tapping into their extensive and diversified backgrounds, these dedicated mentors have committed to igniting curiosity and passion for the ocean and the natural world within underprivileged youth communities of Los Angeles and Miami.
